Hello, I'm Owen! 👋
I wanted to do something to help my friends who get a knot in their stomach whenever they think about AI taking their jobs. So I wrote this audiobook and made it available for free.
It's designed to be thought‑provoking and interesting, but above all - soothing. Something to listen to while falling asleep, during your commute, or whenever the fear creeps in.

Far more than just AI
A few lines from inside
ON BEING HUMAN
No chatbot will hold your hand when you're afraid.
ON EXPERTISE
AI doesn't replace thinking. It amplifies the cost of not thinking.
ON VIBE CODING
You need to know nothing, and I truly mean nothing, about coding to get started.
ON WISDOM
Facts are free now. But the wisdom to know what to do with them will always be scarce.
ON IDENTITY
Your worth was never tied to your job title, or how many emails you sent.
ON FULL-TIME JOBS
You've traded your share of the upside for the comfort of a predictable monthly salary.
ON FEAR
When you’re tense, your world shrinks. When you relax, even slightly, your world expands.
ON CREATIVITY
Technology has always been a magnifier of intention. AI cannot help you if you have nothing to magnify.
About the Author

Owen Barnes
I've spent nearly three decades in technology, building software, advising banks and major consultancies, and giving talks about where it's all heading. I predicted many of the changes we're seeing today and understand how AI works from first principles.
Too many smart people I know are lying awake at night, scared about their futures. So I wrote this book about what really matters: how people before us handled moments like this one, what beliefs might be holding you back, and what you can do today to stay ahead.
I hope it soothes any fears and makes you excited for what comes next!
What Listeners Are Saying
“Great listening! I have met Owen at hackathons, and it's always a pleasure to hear Owen's thoughts on technology. Exactly what I needed to listen after all the scary messages coming from X.”
“This is such an amazing resource, I'm so glad to have found it and feel like I have a much better grasp on things with AI and how it might actually help me! I love listening to it when commuting, Owen is very easy to listen to, very calming but also gives a lot of useful and interesting information. Thanks for linking to what you talk about on the website!”
“I'm such a technophobe, but I was intrigued! And I'm super glad I read it. I learned so much!”
